Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist – Part Time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Join the virtual behavioral health team by delivering patient services grounded in evidence-based medicine.

• Evaluate and diagnose mental and behavioral health disorders in pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients, formulating differential diagnoses.

• Apply sound clinical judgment in assessments and treatments, adhering to established clinical care guidelines.

• Collaborate and communicate effectively with the therapy team and medical leadership to review and refine patient treatment plans.

• When necessary, order and interpret diagnostic tests.

• Conduct initial evaluations and gather patient history for incoming patients.

• Prescribe medications within the scope of your license as part of the patient’s treatment plan.

• Offer medication management and counseling services to patients.

• Educate patients and their parents about medication side effects, risks and benefits, proper usage of new medications, and realistic expectations for outcomes.

• Create and adjust patient treatment plans based on clinical assessments and re-assessments using screening tools.

• Thoroughly document each patient visit in the electronic medical record, including subjective and objective data, assessments, treatment plans, and any additional necessary documentation.

• Share the patient’s care plan with the behavioral health team and the patient's primary care physician.

• Collaborate with healthcare team members to educate patients about their medical care.

• Continuously enhance clinical knowledge and skills through consultations, formal and informal education, and literature reviews for personal growth and the benefit of the healthcare team.

• Provide appropriate referrals when necessary.

• Supervise psychiatric nurse practitioners.

⛳️ Requirements

• MD/DO with the required licensing for prescribing in relevant states.

• Prior experience in psychopharmacology management is essential.

• Board eligible or board certified in child and adolescent psychiatry.

• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Capacity to screen for potential danger to self or others.

• Proven adherence to ethical and behavioral standards of conduct.

• Ability to work collaboratively with a strong focus on teamwork.

• Experience specifically working with children and adolescents.

• Valid DEA License for prescribing in relevant states.

• Valid Medical License for prescribing in relevant states.

• Valid Medicaid number in New York.
