Chief Technology Officer – Hands-On AI, Engineering Leader

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement NIVA's technology strategy and roadmap.

• Oversee the Engineering, AI, Data & Platform teams.

• Construct and nurture a high-performing global engineering organization.

• Lead efforts in software architecture, AI projects, automation, cloud infrastructure, and platform scalability.

• Set engineering standards, governance, CI/CD processes, security measures, and development best practices.

• Collaborate with executive leadership to align technology investments with business objectives.

• Assess emerging technologies, AI models, and potential product opportunities.

• Balance strategic oversight with technical architecture and solution design.

• Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in software engineering and technology leadership.

• Prior experience as CTO, Head of Engineering, VP of Engineering, or Fractional CTO.

• Proven track record of building products from initial concept to production.

• Strong experience leading distributed engineering teams.

• Extensive knowledge of AI and LLM technologies.

• Experience in designing scalable cloud architectures.

• Solid software engineering foundation.

• Experience in hiring, mentoring, and developing engineering teams.

• Experience in healthcare, MedTech, or other regulated industries is a plus.

• Technical Expertise: We seek a technology leader capable of confidently guiding architecture, engineering, AI, and platform decisions within a contemporary cloud-based technology landscape. In-depth experience in designing and scaling solutions within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem is crucial, as this forms the basis of NIVA's existing technology environment.

• **Required Experience**: Proficiency in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), covering cloud-native architecture, infrastructure, and data services; AI/LLMs, prompt engineering, agentic AI, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and workflow automation; software architecture and scalable system design; Python and modern backend development; API design and integration (REST/FastAPI or similar); CI/CD, DevOps, and engineering best practices; Git/GitHub, version control, and engineering governance; PostgreSQL or similar relational databases; Docker and containerized deployments.

• **Strongly Preferred**: Familiarity with cloud data platforms (BigQuery and modern analytics architectures); front-end technologies (React or similar); mobile application architecture (Flutter, Kotlin, Swift); cloud security and identity management; observability, monitoring, and system reliability; engineering quality practices, code reviews, and technical mentoring.
