Chief Technology Officer – CTO

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Define and lead the technical architecture for both our established search platform and the developing RAG solution.

• Make vital technical decisions regarding scaling, infrastructure, and the evolution of the product.

• Address complex technical challenges that the team escalates.

• Guide technology selections and assess new tools and methodologies, particularly those related to AI-assisted development.

• Oversee deployment strategies, operational readiness, and infrastructure reliability across all engineering efforts.

• Mentor and lead a team of 6 skilled engineers (5 developers and 1 solutions engineer).

• Cultivate a culture of technical excellence, independence, and ongoing learning.

• Conduct code and design reviews, offering insightful technical feedback.

• Act as a coach rather than a commander, as this team values collaboration.

• Evaluate and review technical requirements in enterprise contracts.

• Manage security questionnaires and compliance obligations (e.g., SOC2, GDPR).

• Lead our SOC 2 compliance efforts and audits.

• Collaborate with the CEO, product, sales, and marketing leaders on the product roadmap.

• Balance technical debt, feature development, and operational stability.

• Contribute to architecture and design (regular coding is not required, but you should be capable).

• Stay updated on developments in AI/ML, especially in RAG and LLM applications.

• Advocate for modern development practices, utilizing AI-assisted tools such as Claude Code and Codex.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of software engineering experience, with substantial time spent in technical leadership positions.

• Extensive hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot).

• Familiarity with our technology stack or the ability to quickly adapt: Java/Kotlin, Python, AWS.

• Experience with AI/ML systems, especially RAG architectures, LLMs, and prompt engineering.

• Proven record of leading senior engineering teams (not necessarily large, but experienced).

• Comfort with enterprise B2B dynamics: contracts, SLAs, security assessments, and compliance.

• A strong sense of ambition and curiosity about product direction and customer challenges, beyond just technical implementation.

• Exceptional English communication skills, both written and verbal.
