This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and implement an engineering strategy that aligns with the company’s objectives, product vision, and roadmap.
• Oversee, guide, and manage four director-level direct reports in areas such as engineering, quality assurance, DevOps, and IT/Cybersecurity.
• Create and maintain a high-performing, remote-first engineering culture rooted in our core values, emphasizing ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Convert product vision and roadmap into actionable engineering plans, complete with defined milestones and trade-off considerations.
• Ensure that engineering decisions proactively facilitate future product opportunities rather than limit them.
• Promote the use of AI-assisted development workflows—including AI coding tools, automated testing, and code review—to significantly enhance team velocity and quality.
• Offer technical guidance and strategic oversight for the company’s data warehouse, covering schema design and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Foster a culture of regular, dependable software delivery while minimizing cycle time and deployment challenges through enhancements in CI/CD.

• Your professional experience primarily encompasses roles as a software engineer and engineering leader, focusing on building and delivering SaaS products.
• You have experience leading or building engineering teams for educational or training software targeted at consumers, schools, districts, or institutions.
• You have managed teams that deliver frequently—within weeks rather than quarters—and have a strong commitment to CI/CD, cycle time reduction, and enhancing developer productivity.
• You have collaborated closely with a product lead or Head of Product, jointly navigating the speed/quality/sustainability trade-off.
• You actively utilize AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, AI code review, Claude) and have successfully launched AI/LLM-enabled features into production.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive engineering experience, including substantial leadership roles at the director or VP level, managing engineering leaders, alongside being an individual contributor who has authored production code and can engage in detailed technical design discussions.
• Proven experience leading remote-first engineering teams, including managing offshore or outsourced contributors across various time zones.
• Direct experience with edtech products used in educational settings, including schools, districts, or by students and families.
• Familiarity with microservices, GraphQL/REST APIs, AWS, and contemporary CI/CD tools.
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT pipelines, and business intelligence (BI) tools.
• Proficient in translating intricate technical subjects into clear and concise communication for the board, executive leadership, and external stakeholders.
