• Take ownership of the technical architecture for our data platform, including the warehouse, ingestion pipelines, identity resolution, and a cohesive data model throughout the organization.
• Make foundational infrastructure decisions regarding ETL tools, dbt structure, BI layer, orchestration, and data governance strategies.
• Plan the sequence of platform development to deliver a functional unified dataset within the initial months.
• Define the technical interaction between our consumer application and the data platform, focusing on captured data, identity flow, enrichments, and data returned to users.
• Collaborate with the app engineering team (initially a contractor, transitioning to a full-time employee) on consumer interfaces and event credentialing.
• Ensure that event credentialing is robust enough to handle tens of thousands of users from day one.
• Recruit and nurture the engineering team, emphasizing the importance of automation, simplicity, and delivery before expanding headcount.
• Cultivate an engineering culture that prioritizes code reviews, on-call responsibilities, observability, technical documentation, and maintains a high individual contributor standard.
• Serve as the technical interviewer and bar-raiser for all engineering hires.
• Set and uphold engineering standards across the company, prioritizing practical reference implementations over policy documents.
• Assume responsibility for standards from day one, with a broader technology portfolio consolidating under your leadership as systems evolve.
• Communicate technical constraints to the leadership team in straightforward terms and relay commercial limitations back into engineering planning.
• Establish SOC 2 readiness within a timeline that supports enterprise-grade commercial product offerings.
• Manage GDPR compliance, consent tiering, and right-to-erasure capabilities across the platform from the outset.
• Make vendor and tooling selections that withstand audits and can scale effectively.
• Collaborate with the existing technology team to design and implement future IT infrastructure and promote technical philosophies throughout the organization.
• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 3 years serving as the senior-most technical leader at a startup, data-intelligence company, fintech, or media-intelligence organization.
• Demonstrated experience in personally architecting and delivering a data platform that supports a revenue-generating product.
• In-depth, up-to-date knowledge of a modern data stack, including BigQuery or Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran or Airbyte, an orchestrator (such as Airflow or Dagster), and a BI layer (like Looker, Hex, or Metabase).
• Proven track record of hiring and mentoring senior individual contributors in a small, high-trust environment, with no preference for command-and-control management styles.
• Ability to make product and commercial trade-offs, not just technical ones; capable of challenging commercial leadership when necessary due to engineering realities.
• Knowledgeable about Bitcoin or genuinely interested in Bitcoin as a monetary network, the Bitcoin treasury thesis, and the Lightning/x402 stack.
• Strongly preferred: AI native with experience in building consumer mobile applications, agent-facing APIs (MCP, x402), or research/intelligence data products at scale.
• Unlimited Vacation
• Company MacBook
• Health, Dental, and Vision coverage
• Remote-first work environment with flexible scheduling
• 100% paid Life Insurance and Disability coverage
• Collaborate with a talented and dynamic team to tackle complex challenges
• Opportunity to connect and network within the Bitcoin industry and engage with leaders in the field.
