Chief Operating Officer

📋 Description

• Take charge of the design, integration, and ongoing enhancement of XPRIZE’s operational model across IT, HR, Finance, and Legal.

• Ensure that systems, policies, and processes effectively scale as XPRIZE expands in size, complexity, and global reach.

• Define clear decision-making rights, accountability, and performance expectations across operational functions.

• Facilitate clear and efficient cross-functional alignment throughout the organization.

• Convert strategy into actionable operating plans, metrics, and rhythms.

• Provide executive oversight for financial strategy, planning, and performance management.

• Collaborate with Finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and long-term financial modeling.

• Maintain robust internal controls, audit readiness, and compliance with nonprofit and regulatory standards.

• Supervise the People & Culture function to ensure XPRIZE attracts, develops, and retains top-notch talent.

• Ensure adherence to employment laws and best practices across various jurisdictions.

• Oversee legal and business affairs, encompassing contracts, leases, intellectual property considerations, and regulatory compliance.

• Manage enterprise IT strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data governance.

• Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to shape and implement XPRIZE’s strategic objectives.

• Lead, mentor, and develop senior operational leaders.

⛳️ Requirements

• 15+ years of progressive senior leadership experience, including oversight of enterprise operations.

• Proven experience in scaling organizations within nonprofit, for-profit, or hybrid settings.

• Direct experience managing Finance, HR, IT, and Legal/Business Affairs functions.

• Strong financial acumen; experience with budgeting, forecasting, and organizational metrics.

• Previous experience working with Boards and Board committees.

• MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred; CPA or similar credential is a plus.
