This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and implement the foundational financial architecture for 2AI, which encompasses accounting systems, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, internal controls, and month-end closing processes.

• Develop AI-driven accounting and finance procedures to enhance operational efficiencies.

• Construct financial models, scenario analyses, and organizational forecasts to support strategic decision-making.

• Design, procure, and manage a streamlined finance and compliance ecosystem.

• Oversee outsourced partners for accounting, auditing, legal, payroll, insurance, and HR functions.

• Responsible for the annual audit, Form 990 submissions, statutory reporting, and grant reporting responsibilities.

• Lead financial, legal, and compliance workstreams to position 2AI as an independent 501(c)(3) organization.

• Establish processes for entity creation, registrations, banking, payroll, benefits, insurance, and staff transitions.

• Create financial systems that facilitate rapid international scaling and complex funding arrangements.

• Collaborate with leadership on analytically driven budget allocation and organizational decision-making.

• Build and maintain infrastructure for charitable registration, insurance, governance, and regulatory compliance.

• Establish a schedule for board meetings, manage conflict-of-interest disclosures, and provide fiduciary orientation.

• Oversee the complete grant lifecycle, which includes budgets for funders, financial due diligence, and compliance with restricted grants and spend-down requirements.

• Act as the main internal contact for legal issues.

• Review and negotiate contracts with vendors, grant agreements, MOUs, and partnership arrangements.

• Ensure intellectual property protections for open-source assets.

• Manage risk and ensure the organization adheres to legal and regulatory obligations.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 12 years of experience in finance, including a role as the senior finance leader in an organization, business unit, or country program, with responsibility for a complete set of financial records.

• Proven experience in building or restructuring a finance function.

• Experience in multi-entity, cross-border finance in low- and middle-income country (LMIC) settings.

• Strong preference for candidates with experience in establishing and managing finance operations internationally and navigating local statutory, tax, and foreign contribution regulations.

• Familiarity with legal and regulatory challenges in regions such as Africa, South Asia, and the United States.

• Comfortable working in a lean operational model and managing external service providers, including legal counsel, accountants, auditors, brokers, and payroll firms.

• Excellent written communication skills.

• Ability to clearly articulate complex financial and legal concepts to board members, program staff, and funders.

• Capacity to analyze complex data, anticipate trends, and make informed strategic decisions.

• CPA, JD, MBA, or equivalent professional qualifications are strongly preferred.

• Nonprofit-specific training or certification such as CGAP or CNAP is advantageous.

• Preference for candidates with experience in nonprofit finance, compliance, and 501(c)(3) environments.

• Familiarity with Form 990, single audits, charitable solicitation registrations, IRS rebuttable presumption, and state-level tax exemptions is a plus.

• Ability to work effectively across both strategic and executional aspects.

• Curiosity and creativity in utilizing AI tools, including a willingness to experiment with emerging technologies.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
