Chief Compliance and Risk Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Oversee the global compliance and risk management strategy for Localpayment, guiding the function as the company enters new markets.

• Ensure compliance with AML, KYC, data protection, and other regulatory obligations across all regions where Localpayment operates.

• Develop and uphold internal controls and monitoring frameworks to reduce legal, operational, and reputational risks.

• Manage regulatory audits and cultivate relationships with regulatory authorities and banking/payment partners.

• Take charge of the licensing strategy and regulatory engagement process as Localpayment expands into new territories.

• Work collaboratively with Legal, Operations, Product, and Sales teams to integrate compliance and risk requirements into product workflows and partner agreements.

• Establish and monitor compliance and risk metrics and reporting dashboards; proactively identify risks and necessary remediation to senior leadership and the Board.

• Utilize AI tools (Claude, NotebookLM, or similar) to enhance regulatory research, policy drafting, and compliance documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in compliance and risk management roles within fintech, payments, banking, or financial services.

• A background in Law is advantageous.

• In-depth knowledge of AML/CFT frameworks and data protection regulations across various jurisdictions.

• Experience with cross-border payments, PSP ecosystems, or relationships with acquiring banks.

• Familiarity with global and local regulatory frameworks, and practical experience in managing licenses and collaborating with regulatory bodies.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English—capable of independently drafting policies, reports, and regulatory correspondence, and leading discussions with regulators, partners, and leadership.

• Proficient with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, NotebookLM, or similar) to streamline compliance and regulatory tasks.

• A structured, detail-oriented individual with a strategic approach and the capability to build and lead a compliance function.
