This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with physicians to assess patient requirements and propose suitable prosthetic and/or orthotic treatment options.

• Conduct patient examinations and evaluations concerning diseases and functional impairments.

• Design prosthetic and/or orthotic devices tailored to patient needs.

• Select appropriate materials, take cast measurements, modify models, and prepare layouts.

• Execute fittings, which include both static and dynamic alignments.

• Assess, adjust, and ensure the fit, functionality, medical efficacy, and quality of devices.

• Educate patients on the proper use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.

• Identify and troubleshoot device-related issues to guarantee patient satisfaction.

• Maintain follow-up communication with patients and physicians.

• Provide in-service training for physicians and allied health professionals.

• Oversee materials, quality, performance, costs, and operational/financial metrics.

• Cultivate referral relationships with physicians, case managers, and other sources of referrals.

• Implement strategies designed to meet and surpass revenue goals.

• Document detailed clinical notes in patient records.

• Mentor residents or newly certified clinicians.

• Support clinical and administrative staff in reimbursement processes.

• Adhere to safety, Medicare, governmental, bloodborne pathogen, and OSHA standards.

• Carry out additional duties and special projects as assigned.

• May be required to perform on-call duties or hospital visits, or rotate between Hanger Clinic locations.


⛳️ Requirements

• Current board certification in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics from ABC or BOC; alternatively, a baccalaureate degree in prosthetics and/or orthotics (or foreign equivalent) and current ABC Board-Eligibility.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license and a driving record that complies with Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.

• Ability to secure and maintain state licensure where necessary.

• Candidates certified in one discipline may be considered while completing their residency in the other discipline.

• Candidates who are not certified or board-eligible may be considered if they have a minimum of 5 years of proven experience providing prosthetic and/or orthotic services under the supervision of a certified clinician.

• In-depth understanding of biomechanics, pathomechanics, gait analysis, kinesiology, anatomy, and physiology.

• Comprehensive knowledge of components and their suitability/reliability for specific applications.

• Strong grasp of medical terminology.

• Proficient oral and written communication and reporting abilities.

• Capability to instruct clinical and non-clinical personnel as well as customers.

• Active listening, reading, and comprehension skills.

• Ability to evaluate patient conditions and provide physicians with treatment recommendations.

• Capacity to foster professional relationships with physicians, therapists, and patients.

• Competence in working effectively as a team member.

• Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills.

• Ability to lift patients using biomedical techniques and lift up to 50 pounds independently.

• Capability to walk, bend, stand, and reach consistently throughout the workday.

• Adequate near and distant visual acuity.

• Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to follow and give directions.

• Capability to maneuver wheeled equipment within the facility.

• Fine motor skills for scheduling and preparing patients, equipment, and supplies.

• Ability to engage in prolonged activities for extended hours in line with state labor regulations.

• Additional experience in upper-limb care or proficiency in Spanish is advantageous, though not mandatory.
