This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Conduct audits on medical charts to ensure correct assignment of ICD-10 CM and CPT codes, as well as to maintain documentation integrity and avoid claim denials.

• Employ critical and logical thinking skills in the chart-auditing process, following the guidelines established by the client.

• Maintain professionalism and proper netiquette in all interactions with the TaskUs team, other vendors, and the client.

• Examine medical records and ensure that the documentation supports the assigned diagnostic and procedural codes (ICD-10 CM and CPT codes).

• Verify and abstract all pertinent medical data from patient records, encompassing treatment plans, diagnoses, and procedures.

• Ensure adherence to coding guidelines and regulations, including HIPAA and CMS standards.

• Track and report on trends and issues related to coding, and propose recommendations for process enhancements.

• Stay updated on coding regulations and guidelines, and participate in continuing education courses as needed to maintain CPC certification.

• Keep accurate and thorough documentation of coding activities and communicate effectively with team members and other stakeholders.

• Engage in quality improvement initiatives and other assigned projects.


⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field is preferred.

• CPC certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or a comparable certification is mandatory.

• At least 2 years of experience in medical coding, ideally in an outpatient environment or for professional services.

• Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems and guidelines.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.

• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.

• Proficient in Google Sheets and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
