This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Operates under supervision and reviews/deciphers health record documentation to identify all diagnoses and procedures relevant to the outpatient visit.
• Evaluates the adequacy of health record documentation to confirm it substantiates all diagnoses and procedures for which codes are assigned.
• Utilizes knowledge of anatomy and physiology, clinical disease processes, pharmacology, and diagnostic and procedural terminology to accurately assign codes to diagnoses and procedures.
• Maintains a solid understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding classification systems.
• Reviews and executes data charge entries into both hospital and physician patient accounting systems for outpatient clinic visits.
• Organizes tasks to ensure all assigned work queues are reviewed and properly prioritized on a daily basis.
• Executes other duties as assigned.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must possess knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding systems.
• One of the following certifications is required: CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA.
• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management is preferred.
• Preferred two (2) years of coding experience.
