This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Utilizes personal experience as a parent, guardian, or primary caregiver to assist and support youth and families on an ongoing basis.

• Aids treatment and service coordination teams in assessing and engaging clients who reside in the community and in hospital settings.

• Provides support to Child and Family Teams (CFTs) for wraparound and service coordination efforts.

• Helps clients and families identify, utilize, and access family, neighborhood, and community support services, facilitating their integration into the community.

• Assists the team, clients, and staff in completing necessary documentation to determine eligibility for community resources.

• Adheres to crisis prevention and intervention protocols.

• Serves as an advocate for clients and families to obtain essential services.

• Offers feedback regarding the needs of parents and families, helping to identify service and support gaps.

• Gathers required data from youth and families for program evaluation purposes.

• Provides support, education, and consultation to clients, families, and significant others.

• Educates clients, families, and significant others on self-management of symptoms.

• Ensures effective communication with team leaders and members when responding to client inquiries and requests.

• Aids in clients' acquisition of social and recreational skills.

• Supports clients and families in enhancing their social support skills and networks.

• Participates in local Family and Children First Councils and other community meetings focused on parents and youth.

• Maintains client confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA regulations.

• Engages in mandatory agency and departmental meetings and staff training sessions.

• Collaborates closely with various community service providers and within Harbor.

• Delivers culturally competent services and seeks consultation and supervision when faced with complex situations beyond the employee's experience.

• Keeps abreast of agency services and knows how to access services not available within the agency.

• Works with individuals experiencing severe emotional disturbances and behavioral issues, along with their families, in natural and community-based settings.

• Composes clinical documentation in a format acceptable to Harbor.

• May offer billable services and is expected to meet or exceed unit expectations set by Harbor.

• Stays updated with trends and developments related to essential job competencies and demonstrates ongoing professional growth.


⛳️ Requirements

• At least a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

• Experience as a parent, guardian, or primary caregiver of a child who is or has been a recipient of mental health services.

• Must possess skills to assist clients in achieving and maintaining their highest level of functioning, aiming for successful community living.

• Ability to provide a unique perspective on parenting or raising a child with serious emotional or behavioral challenges.

• Proficient and accurate in computer usage, including Microsoft Word.

• Required to obtain Ohio Parent Peer Support Certification within 120 days of hire.

• Certified Parent Peer Supporters must keep up with continuing education and renewal requirements for their certification.

• CPR/First Aid and NCI/CPI Certifications required within 90 days of employment.

• Must successfully demonstrate basic competencies for Parent Peer Support services, as evaluated by supervisor review, within 90 days of hire.

• Must be at least 23 years old, possess a valid driver's license, maintain an acceptable driving record, and provide proof of personal auto insurance to qualify for Harbor’s vehicle insurance.
