C++/C Software Developer – Independent Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Transition 32-bit call handling C++ subsystems to a 64-bit architecture.

• Create scripts and methodologies to upgrade operating systems from CentOS 7 to RHEL 9.

• Assist in the modernization of Java-based web configurators.

• Engage in the testing and release processes of the migrated system.

• Revise CI/CD pipelines and other DevOps tools to facilitate the migration project.

• Conduct security assessments and implement necessary remediations.

• Collaborate with an established engineering team while leading platform modernization efforts according to a structured migration plan.

• Support the core team in maintaining focus on field support.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in developing C++ applications on Linux platforms.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Linux operating system development and bash scripting.

• Strong understanding of networking, virtualization, and security concepts.

• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without employer sponsorship.

• Capable of contracting directly with a Canadian entity as a corporation or sole proprietor.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Proven ability to work collaboratively with an established engineering team.

• Experience in multi-threaded, high-availability real-time systems is preferred.

• Familiarity with other Linux operating system migrations is preferred.

• Knowledge of agentic AI techniques for software engineering is preferred.

• Proficiency in Python, Java, or C# is preferred.

• Understanding of CI/CD and DevOps toolchains such as TeamCity, Perforce, Jenkins, or GitHub is preferred.

• Exposure to voice infrastructure and telephony systems, including SIP, PBX, and PSTN is preferred.
