This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +4 more states.
• Assume complete responsibility for a varied portfolio of third-party automobile injury claims, engaging in proactive investigation, assessment, negotiation, and resolution of claims across all phases, including unrepresented, represented, early litigation, and time-sensitive policy limit demand cases.
• Demonstrate a strong ability to understand and apply policy language provisions, conditions, and exclusions, utilizing knowledge of relevant state laws, judicial rulings, and regulations.
• Oversee a collection of casualty claim files.
• Recognize high-risk issues, ensure appropriate follow-up, and take prompt action to reduce unnecessary claim exposure, including legal, financial, and extra-contractual risks.
• Prepare coverage position letters, denials, or correspondence as necessary.
• Manage claims to achieve fair and timely resolutions while reducing indemnity, defense, and claim expenses through effective investigation, assessment, and negotiation.
• Collaborate across teams within the claims department to support and mentor staff on coverage and liability concepts, facilitating accurate and timely decisions and settlement amounts.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance business outcomes and improve efficiency.
• Assist in addressing inquiries from attorneys, regulatory bodies, vendors, and consumers.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in auto insurance casualty claims.
• A bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge and a proven track record in resolving complex, severe-injury claims.
• Experience in non-standard auto insurance is preferred, but not mandatory—Tennessee experience is a plus.
• Strong and effective negotiation skills in handling complex claims.
• Attention to detail resulting in high-quality work products.
• Ability to think critically and propose practical solutions.
• Strong skills in coverage and liability analysis.
• Familiarity with state laws and regulations related to claims practices.
• Capability to solve problems and identify solutions swiftly.
• Understanding of court process concepts.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in technology, particularly Microsoft Office—Word and Excel.
