Cash Posting Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manually and electronically post payments (ERA’s) from patients and insurance, along with adjustments and/or denials.

• Identify remittances and payments through various portals and/or clearinghouses.

• Analyze and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).

• Apply copay, coinsurance, and deductible amounts to patient accounts.

• Assess patient account balances as necessary to ensure accurate posting.

• Execute payment deposit downloads and conduct bank reconciliations.

• Perform daily cash reconciliation and generate reports.

• Investigate and resolve unapplied accounts.

• Exhibit flexibility to cross-train, assist with training, and cover for team members or other projects as required.

• Identify and report trends and issues.

• Prepare, reconcile, and finalize local bank deposits for mail patient, insurance, and accounting payments, along with other hospital/clinic departments (not applicable for home-based candidates).

• Maintain and reconcile petty cash funds, and process point-of-service patient payments (not applicable for home-based candidates).

• Post monthly agency payment reports.

• Work towards resolving unidentified deposits.

• Address posting issue work queues.


⛳️ Requirements

• Preferred minimum of 3-5 years of direct cash handling experience in a healthcare environment.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.

• Preferred proficiency in 10-key calculator skills.

• Ability to read, speak, and write fluently in English.

• Experience in data entry.

• Familiarity with computer systems, particularly MS/Excel applications.

• Basic to intermediate skills in Excel are preferred.

• Requires strong communication skills to effectively engage with management, peers, and clients at all levels.

• Possesses exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capability to work collaboratively as a team member while fostering effective working relationships.

• Must be adaptable and demonstrate the ability to work independently in a quiet, dedicated home workspace within a fast-paced, dynamic, and goal-oriented setting.

• Detail-oriented, strong multi-tasker, resourceful, and skilled in applying critical thinking to make sound independent decisions.

• Candidate must demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills.
