This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Serve as the primary escalation point within operations leadership for issues related to accommodations.
• Oversee responses to escalations from both executive and non-executive team members.
• Address highly sensitive HR-for-HR cases within a designated region.
• Manage nesting plans, perform audits for new hires, and provide coaching to new team members.
• Analyze quality audit outcomes and share regional trends and opportunities for process enhancement.
• Adjust workflows, manage out-of-office procedures, and assign work tasks effectively.
• Examine regional case volumes, types, and approval data to inform training and procedural decisions.
• Suggest training initiatives, offer feedback from surveys, and disseminate best practices.
• Collaborate with leave case managers and disability vendors on managing return-to-work processes.
• Advise and coach regional HR partners, managers, and employees regarding accommodation issues.
• Provide support, referrals, and information for employees with medical conditions or disabilities.
• Facilitate advanced communication among employees, HR, managers, and stakeholders related to leave.
• Coordinate with disability and leave service management along with legal partners on escalated matters.
• Manage sensitive behavioral health cases with care and appropriate escalation procedures.
• Assist in recognizing essential and marginal job functions for accommodation determinations.
• Conduct job site evaluations to assess job demands and identify potential accommodations.
• Clarify work restrictions, functional limitations, and legal rights and responsibilities to employees.
• Uphold confidentiality and protect sensitive information at all times.
• Stay updated on federal, state, and local laws regarding disability access and accommodations.
• Keep precise case records and notes in case management systems and designated databases.
• Evaluate training needs and facilitate or support group training sessions.
• Provide expert opinions and documentation for grievances, arbitration, depositions, and other proceedings.
• Comply with SLAs and quality benchmarks while managing a substantial volume of complex cases.
• A bachelor's degree or 4+ years of comparable professional or military experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in leave of absence, disability case management, ADA/ADAAA accommodations, human resources, or a related field.
• Knowledge of federal and state leave and disability regulations, including ADA/ADAAA and FMLA.
• Proven experience managing cases from initiation to resolution within a case management system.
• Ability to communicate complex information clearly to employees, managers, and HR partners, both verbally and in writing.
• Established track record of handling sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Capacity to prioritize and manage a high volume of cases and tasks with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of human resources in relation to leave of absence, accommodations, and leave laws.
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service.
• Experience in high-volume case management, particularly complex cases and return-to-work program management.
• Prior background in disability accommodations, ADA compliance, or workplace accessibility.
• Experience with corporate or professional employee populations in a large, dynamic organization.
• Familiarity with internal accommodation case management systems and HR-related platforms.
• Understanding of medical documentation review, including interpreting physician notes regarding functional limitations and work restrictions.
• Experience providing consultancy and coaching to HR partners and leaders on accommodation and leave issues.
• Experience in identifying training needs and supporting or conducting group training sessions.
• Ability to analyze regional data to identify trends in volume, case types, and approvals, translating findings into actionable insights.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to propose innovative and compliant accommodation solutions.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with legal, disability vendors, and leave case managers on escalated and intricate cases.
