Capacity Analyst, Fleet Planner

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the multi-year fleet refresh initiative for Netflix's global hardware infrastructure, which includes servers, networking devices, and storage systems, converting engineering roadmaps and business objectives into well-structured long-term fleet strategies.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to ensure that fleet strategies align with business goals and budget limitations.

• Work cross-functionally to establish and monitor key metrics related to fleet health (utilization, age distribution, failure rates), fostering ongoing optimization and lifecycle management.

• Lead hardware procurement planning in conjunction with the Business Operations team, ensuring that supply meets demand without excess provisioning.

• Identify strategies to lower total cost of ownership (TCO) through intelligent fleet composition, lifecycle management, and decommissioning approaches, and develop the business case for these modifications.

• Create and present fleet planning roadmaps and recommendations to senior leadership.

• Promote cross-functional alignment on fleet standards, refresh policies, and end-of-life strategies, ensuring uniformity across engineering and infrastructure teams.

• Serve as a thought partner to engineering leaders regarding how emerging hardware technologies and architectural developments should impact future fleet configurations.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in capacity planning for data centers or cloud platforms, or in network planning.

• At least 5 years of practical experience in data analysis and visualization, with proficiency in SQL; knowledge of Python is a plus.

• Familiarity with — or a strong interest in — the internet or telecom ecosystem.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for both technical and executive audiences.

• Proven ability to transform vague, cross-functional issues into structured plans, even when data may be incomplete.

• Ability to operate independently while building consensus among teams that do not report directly to you.

• Technical Program Management experience is preferred.

• Proficiency in AI tools.
