This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.

📋 Description

• Oversee the kitchen staff assigned to you, ensuring they work in a positive and safe environment.

• Guarantee that all team members receive the necessary training, guidance, and leadership to effectively fulfill their roles and provide high-quality services.

• Develop and select recipes based on the type of cuisine being prepared, utilizing your personal knowledge and expertise in food preparation.

• Prepare food in accordance with established recipes.

• Cook, prepare, and serve a variety of foods including meats, sauces, vegetables, soups, and more.

• Perform meat carving duties.

• Ensure that your designated work areas are clean, sanitary, and well-organized.

• Maintain excellent communication and relationships with both clients and employees to continuously enhance service quality.

• Enforce disciplinary measures for violations of NMS safety policies, practices, and procedures.

• Actively engage in a safety program focused on behavior and commitment, supporting NMS safety goals by planning, implementing, and coordinating policies and procedures to mitigate occupational injuries, illnesses, fatalities, and property damage.

• Coordinate safety initiatives for your assigned team and conduct multiple safety meetings to ensure compliance with company and client safety standards during daily operations.


⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent, complemented by formal training or additional relevant experience.

• Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts or a recognized formal certification from a National Association.

• Candidates lacking this educational background must possess an additional three years of demonstrated leadership experience in a commercial or remote camp kitchen environment.

• A minimum of five years of relevant restaurant cooking experience, showcasing a strong understanding of high-volume food production, food service roles, equipment, and supervisory methods in this sector.

• A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record for the past three years to meet eligibility requirements under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy.

• Must successfully complete all pre-employment contractual requirements, which may include a drug test, physical and fit-for-duty assessments, and a hearing test.

• Ability to remain standing for 12 hours during each scheduled shift.

• Willingness to reside in dormitory-style accommodations and adhere to cleanliness standards at the remote camp.

• The contract necessitates that employees can speak, understand, read, and write in English.

• Candidates should be capable of instructing and training others, as well as managing multiple simultaneous tasks.

• Must be able to collaborate effectively as part of a team with colleagues, customers, and clients.

• Applicants who are not near a testing facility are responsible for covering their travel costs to the nearest location for testing.
