C++ Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Develop low-latency trading infrastructure on Linux

• Contribute to the essential elements of our Switchboard trading platform, including pricing engines, connectivity gateways, market-data systems, and the messaging layer that integrates them

• Manage the entire lifecycle from design to operational excellence

• Analyze and resolve issues in production environments

• Utilize modern C++20 and Go on Linux, leveraging a contemporary software stack built on open source technologies

• Implement cloud-native infrastructure on AWS, with colocation in critical data centers

• Optimize for microsecond-level latency and high-throughput messaging

• Create market-data and reference-data pipelines across various asset classes

• Integrate FIX protocol with global banks and liquidity providers

• Ensure observability and monitoring through dashboards, alerting, and metrics that clarify system behavior

• Maintain production systems that manage real money; reliability is paramount

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in C++ with Linux systems programming (3+ years)

• Comfortable working at a low level — you understand the underlying mechanics of your code

• Experienced with performance-sensitive systems (profiling, optimization, deterministic behavior)

• Knowledgeable in networking fundamentals (TCP/UDP, socket programming)

• Experience with Go is a significant advantage, as we utilize it extensively for microservices and command-line tools; you will be expected to work with it internally. Strong C++ engineers can learn it quickly if they are not already familiar

• Proficient in Python for scripting, automation, testing, and data analysis — used across the platform for tooling and operational processes

• Familiar with Git and shell scripting

• Experience in financial services or trading technology is a plus, but not mandatory
