C Developer – Linux Kernel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.

📋 Description

• Engage with essential Linux kernel subsystems, encompassing memory management, scheduling, networking, and filesystems.

• Fine-tune and enhance container isolation methods to ensure maximum security.

• Contribute to making Linux more scalable, efficient, and robust.

• Optimize resource utilization across numerous virtual machines and containers.

• Collaborate with upstream maintainers to integrate your patches into the kernel.

• Represent Virtuozzo at industry conferences, including Open Source Summit, FOSDEM, and various Linux Foundation events.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient C programming skills — the closer to the core, the better.

• Familiarity with at least one kernel subsystem.

• Comfortable navigating syscalls, kernel/user-space interfaces, and understanding the inner workings of Linux.

• Debugging proficiency using tools such as kprobes, ftrace, perf, gdb, or any other methods that help eliminate bugs.

• As a global remote team, the ability to articulate your thoughts clearly in English, whether during code reviews or conference presentations, is essential.

• Preferred: Previous involvement in open-source projects (do you have a GitHub or LKML link? We’d be excited to check it out).

• Extensive knowledge of namespaces, cgroups, or KVM.

• Experience with Python scripting for tooling, automation, or test frameworks.

• Understanding of DevOps pipelines that involve container technologies or kernel builds.
