This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.
• Develop and implement a merchandising strategy and product direction for designated categories or departments.
• Curate unique, high-quality merchandise that aligns with customer needs and preferences.
• Utilize competitive intelligence, customer insights, and business analysis to create customer-focused assortments.
• Collaborate with Merchandise Planners to formulate and execute strategies that enhance business opportunities.
• Provide insights on category and pre-season planning strategies.
• Construct assortment frameworks and allocation strategies based on customer and trend insights.
• Establish product display and flow strategies, including launch dates, full-price selling periods, cross-sell opportunities, and collection considerations.
• Lead market preparation and attend market events to select products.
• Coordinate purchases with brand partners and collaborate on exclusive merchandise offerings.
• Manage communications regarding in-season brand performance, trending styles, chase opportunities, and order management issues.
• Review daily performance reports and gather insights on trending products, categories, and brands.
• Utilize in-season levers to optimize performance and prepare context for monthly OTB meetings.
• Negotiate with Brand Partners throughout the season to enhance performance through style swaps, capsules, RTVs, matrix expansion, and markdowns.
• Mentor and train Associate Buyers, Assistant Buyers, and Coordinators.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in retail.
• Over 5 years of experience in a buying office.
• Strong understanding of buying operations and retail strategy.
• Proficient financial, analytical, and strategic planning skills.
• Expertise in retail mathematics, including markup, margin planning, OTB, WOS, T/O, GMROI, and assortment planning.
• Proven leadership and team management abilities.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Capability to build robust internal and vendor relationships.
• Strong customer focus and results-oriented mindset.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity effectively.
• Excellent organization, planning, prioritization, and conflict management skills.
• Strategic thinker with adaptability to evolving business needs.
• Willingness to travel, including international travel, as necessary.
