Business Intelligence Engineer

📋 Description

• Take ownership of projects from initial requirements gathering to final delivery.

• Contribute to the establishment of consistent reporting standards, consolidated semantic models, and technical documentation throughout the BI environment.

• Design and maintain Power BI semantic models, reports, and dashboards.

• Create and sustain Qlik Sense visualizations and dashboards using Qlik Cloud Service.

• Transition and re-platform existing SSRS reports into Power BI or Qlik Sense environments.

• Collect and document requirements from business stakeholders.

• Maintain and enhance existing semantic models related to complex finance, operations, and clinical data.

• Ensure visual uniformity and compliance with reporting templates.

• Develop and manage data documentation, including report catalogs, data dictionaries, and definitions for measures and dimensions.

• Engage in status check-ins and sync meetings regarding new work with the BI Manager.

• Identify opportunities for best-practice enhancements and optimizations.

• Assist in the monthly distribution process of KPI dashboards and make ad hoc development adjustments.

• Phase out and archive outdated reports with the necessary documentation.

• Manage tasks using Zoho.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of practical experience in Power BI development, including semantic modeling, DAX, and report design.

• Strong experience with Qlik Sense, particularly in cloud-based data modeling and visualization.

• Proficient in SQL / T-SQL for data exploration and query formulation.

• Experience in handling complex, multi-source data models.

• Capability to independently understand and document unfamiliar data schemas.

• Experience in writing and maintaining technical documentation such as data dictionaries, catalogs, and annotated code.

• Skilled in gathering requirements and converting them into development specifications and operational checklists.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Comfortable working asynchronously and independently across various time zones.

• Background in healthcare, compliance, or operations analytics settings.

• Familiar with SSIS and/or Databricks (general awareness of data pipelines, not authoring).

• Experienced in managing the Power BI lifecycle (development, testing, and production workspace structure).

• Familiarity with Copilot or similar AI-assisted development tools, with the capability to review and validate generated schemas and DAX/SQL.

• Previous involvement in SSRS report migration projects.

• Experience with Zoho or similar project management tools.

• Exposure to Azure Virtual Desktop or similar remote development environments.

• Working knowledge of HL7 and FHIR standards in healthcare data and interoperability.
