Business Intelligence Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Engage in discussions with stakeholders to establish and document the requirements for reports and dashboards.

• Act as a subject matter expert in data visualization, reporting best practices, and frameworks for data management.

• Create and develop dashboards and visual representations of data.

• Perform data analysis and modeling to uncover trends, insights, and recommendations.

• Generate and document business requirements pertaining to data sets, reports, and dashboards.

• Test and validate reports and dashboards to ensure they meet business and technical requirements.

• Define, validate, and manage business definitions related to data sets and reporting schemas.

• Collaborate with ITS on data governance, the delivery of data sets, and troubleshooting BI systems.

• Improve data governance policies to guarantee the accuracy and integrity of enterprise data.

• Assist in the development of data sets that align with business requirements and reporting needs.

• Provide troubleshooting assistance and support for BI stakeholders and end-users.

• Keep system documentation and training materials updated.

• Facilitate education and training sessions for clients using BI and reporting tools.

• Evaluate new data sources for integration into the enterprise reporting framework.

• Propose and implement enhancements to the OCFO BI reporting framework for improved performance and scalability.

• Contribute to cross-functional projects that align with OCFO objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A relevant Bachelor's Degree along with 2 or more years of experience, or equivalent education/experience; alternatively, a relevant Master's Degree or equivalent education/experience.

• Educational qualifications must be fulfilled before the employment start date.

• Eligibility may be limited based on citizenship due to access to Controlled Unclassified Information.

• Fundamental understanding and broad application of technical principles, theories, and concepts.

• Basic knowledge of database concepts, data modeling, and schema design.

• Familiarity with Power BI, SSRS, Tableau, or other reporting tools.

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office productivity tools.

• Capability to access, query, analyze, and model incoming data.

• General knowledge of relevant disciplines.

• Ability to work independently under general supervision while exercising judgment within established practices and procedures.

• Effectiveness in a team-oriented, matrixed organization.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Experience with SQL coding for data extraction, transformation, and optimization.

• Experience with Python, particularly Pandas.

• Familiarity with parquet files.

• Experience with Oracle databases.

• Exposure to Azure SQL or other cloud-based database environments.

• Experience in data engineering and data science methodologies.

• Experience in restructuring legacy financial data and optimizing wide tables.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including DAX and best practices for governance.

• Experience in designing data visualizations and executing reporting frameworks.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and SmartView reporting.

• Experience with financial systems.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card and successfully pass a background investigation.

• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
