This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Reporting to the Director of Sales for Australia and New Zealand, the Business Development Manager is tasked with driving and optimizing revenue potential for designated retail, wholesale, custom groups, and group tour block accounts.
• Account Management: Oversee strategic account management to foster continuous growth and engagement across various channels (wholesale, retail, group tour block) in order to meet established revenue targets for the region.
• Develop and document essential account process flows related to selling Rocky Mountaineer products, utilizing this expertise to facilitate change, process enhancements, efficiencies, and revenue growth.
• Identify and cultivate new trade opportunities to boost Rocky Mountaineer sales.
• Source and convert corporate and special interest custom group sales opportunities with support from the Custom Groups team in Vancouver.
• Effectively leverage the Salesforce CRM system to enhance account knowledge throughout the business, improving reporting and data capture capabilities.
• Provide product training and conduct sales calls with targeted distribution partners, enhancing their confidence and knowledge in selling Rocky Mountaineer products.
• Organize, manage, and participate in trade shows, consumer events, travel expos, and roadshows within local regions as a knowledge expert for RM, ensuring that RM is recognized as the preferred choice for consumers and trade.
• Create and implement sales initiatives and local area marketing programs to ensure optimal return on investment.
• Collaborate with the Partnership Marketing team to negotiate and execute annual co-op marketing plans to drive revenue with key accounts.
• Support co-op marketing strategies with targeted sales blitzes in the local area.
• Assist the Sales Coordinator with frontline responses regarding past, present, and future bookings.
• Communicate with Travel Agents and guests concerning bookings.
• Facilitate Learning Journeys (Fams) by managing key account participation and engagement, including leading these trips when necessary.
• Actively participate in the local, regional, and global organization’s activities to provide expertise in support of key projects and initiatives as required.
• Proactively share market intelligence, sales and marketing initiatives, and best practices with local, regional, and global teams.
• Actively assist fellow team members with trade activities and travel schedules, helping to align goals and values with those of the overall Rocky Mountaineer organization.
• A qualification in Sales, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.
• A university degree in business management and/or travel/tourism.
• 2-3 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in an international travel and tourism sales environment.
• Established relationships with key account decision makers and travel agents, along with a solid understanding and network within the Australian travel industry and its distribution systems.
• Strong presentation and training abilities, both in person and through webinars, with audiences ranging from large consumer groups to boardroom meetings.
• Proficient in customizing and targeting communication for both internal and external key influencers/audiences; able to produce logical, concise, and audience-appropriate written material.
• Strong familiarity with Salesforce.com (or a similar CRM sales and marketing system), Power BI, Microsoft Office, and basic understanding of reservation systems.
