This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop and execute the business development strategy for Devoted.
• Analyze market trends, evaluate potential opportunities, and monitor competitor actions — adjusting the strategy quarterly based on your findings.
• Seek and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and strategic alliances to broaden Devoted's client base.
• Construct your own lead-generation pipeline through outbound efforts, networking, events, and by enhancing existing relationships.
• Manage the entire deal cycle: discovery, scoping with production, proposal, negotiation, and closure.
• Collaborate with the production team to identify and cultivate opportunities that align with Devoted's strengths and expertise.
• Establish quarterly growth targets for existing accounts — and achieve them.
• Maintain client satisfaction levels at 8/10 or above across the portfolio.
• Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients at all levels — operational, senior, and strategic.
• Assist the CEO with account retention and management strategies for the largest accounts.
• Continually assess and evaluate the effectiveness of business development strategies and initiatives, suggesting improvements and adjustments as necessary.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients when production challenges arise — ensuring both sides focus on finding optimal solutions rather than assigning blame.
• Negotiate and finalize contracts and agreements with clients, partners, and vendors to secure favorable terms and mutually beneficial relationships.
• Assist the legal and finance teams with any inquiries regarding contracts and invoicing for current accounts.
• Advocate for CRM excellence: prepare weekly plans and report on current and prospective client communications.
• Create regular status reports that include activity, closings, follow-ups, and progress towards goals.
• Participate in networking events, conferences, and industry shows — represent Devoted, and bring back leads and insights.
• If headcount increases to support growth, recruit and mentor support staff (Lead Generation Managers, BD Managers).
• 7+ years of experience in business development, sales, or partnerships within the games industry, with a proven record of revenue ownership at the Director level.
• Platform-agnostic experience — capable of selling or expanding accounts across PC, console, and mobile platforms, rather than specializing in a single platform.
• Proven ability in personal lead generation: established outbound discipline and converted leads at the top of the funnel, rather than solely managing inbound leads.
• Track record of account growth: existing accounts that have shown quarter-over-quarter growth under your management, supported by measurable performance metrics.
• Real-world experience in contract negotiation on commercial terms — including pricing, scope, intellectual property, payment terms, and indemnity.
• Strong commercial acumen: understanding of margins, cost implications of scope changes, and the ability to interpret project profit and loss statements.
• CRM proficiency: experience with HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar tools — utilized as an operational instrument rather than merely a reporting task.
• Exceptional relationship management and interpersonal abilities — a supportive team player who effectively engages at all levels of management, staff, and clients.
• Excellent presentation skills, along with proficient written and spoken English — comfortable addressing senior client stakeholders and presenting at industry events.
• Strong analytical and project management capabilities — able to handle multiple deals and accounts, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines without compromising detail.
• Genuine knowledge and passion for video games and the broader gaming ecosystem — including engines, platforms, business models, and industry trends.
• Composed under pressure, organized, accountable. Commitment to delivering world-class quality standards.
• **Nice to Have**• Experience in selling co-development, porting, art services, or other game services (beyond just IP licensing or publishing).
• Established personal network among publishers, platform holders, and mid-to-large independent studios in North America and Europe.
• Experience in hiring and mentoring junior business development or lead generation personnel.
• Familiarity with the conference circuit: GDC, Gamescom, Devcom, and regional summits.
• Knowledge of advanced research tools and resources for prospecting and intelligence gathering.
• 26 days of leave throughout the year (accrued with tenure and company downtime during holiday periods).
• Engaging and challenging tasks – address diverse and complex issues while collaborating with colleagues and partners.
• Flexible working conditions – remote work options and the ability to design your own workday with adaptable hours.
• Opportunity to work within a highly skilled and dynamic team on a wide array of International Game Production projects, along with an attractive remuneration package and opportunities for professional development.
