This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Asia.
• In the role of Bunker Trader, you will be based either in your home country or in the host nation, managing the company’s representative office as a distinct profit and loss center.
• You are expected to possess an established client base, leveraging personal relationships to facilitate sales and ensure ongoing loyalty from both customers and local suppliers.
• A solid understanding of the International Bunker business, including Ports, Suppliers, Owners, Charterers, and Regulations, is essential.
• A key aspect of the Bunker Trader's role is to develop new business, requiring a strong interest in the Marine industry and the ability to analyze and monitor global demands.
• Continuous market research and the pursuit of new opportunities to grow the business are crucial responsibilities.
• You should view cold canvassing as an integral part of your daily routine and be a goal-oriented individual.
• We seek a collaborative team player who possesses strong ambition and self-motivation.
• Daily tasks will involve active brokering and trading on behalf of clients, ensuring optimal rates that benefit both the company and the client.
• You will be responsible for preparing and processing quotations, sales inquiries, sales confirmations, and contracts.
• Monitoring customer payments and following up on late payments will also be part of your duties.
• In instances of disputes or claims, the Bunker Trader will be tasked with managing claims and assisting with any legal actions involving customers or suppliers.
• Flexibility in working hours may be required, as the Bunker Trader may need to work outside of typical business hours.
• You will manage your own profit and loss responsibilities.
• Previous experience in a Bunker Trader role with an International Bunker Trading Company or a Physical Supplier is required.
• A high standard of education is essential, ideally holding a degree qualification or equivalent in Shipping.
• As a Bunker Trader, you must be organized, capable of maintaining CRM (customer relationship management) systems, and possess strong general administrative skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with an outgoing personality, are necessary.
• You should be able to present information to clients clearly and possess strong sales techniques.
• Negotiating rates with suppliers is a key responsibility, requiring strong negotiation skills and a good understanding of the shipping industry.
• Teamwork is essential, and you should be able to support other team members as needed.
• Comfort in a multicultural environment and the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all organizational levels is important.
• A professional demeanor and unwavering integrity are expected.
• Familiarity with standard industry computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel, is required.
