Board Member

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Acting as a trusted advisor to the CEO in the development and execution of FASD United’s strategic plan.

• Evaluating outcomes and metrics established by FASD United to assess its impact, while regularly measuring performance and effectiveness using those metrics; reviewing agenda items and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings.

• Approving the annual budget, audit reports, and significant business decisions for FASD United; ensuring awareness of and compliance with all legal and fiduciary responsibilities.

• Contributing to the annual performance assessment of the CEO.

• Aiding the CEO, board chair, and governance committee in the identification and recruitment of additional Board Members.

• Collaborating with the CEO and fellow board members to ensure the implementation of board resolutions.

• Participating in committees or task forces and undertaking special assignments.

• Representing FASD United to stakeholders and serving as an ambassador for the organization.

• Upholding FASD United’s commitment to maintaining a diverse board and staff that mirrors the communities served by the organization.

• Significant professional experience with notable executive leadership achievements in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector.

• A strong commitment to and understanding of FASD United’s beneficiaries, ideally grounded in personal experience.

• Excellent diplomatic skills with a natural talent for fostering relationships, persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among a diverse group of individuals.

• Personal attributes of integrity, credibility, and a genuine passion for enhancing the lives of FASD United’s beneficiaries.

• An emphasis on diversity, neurodiversity, and a positive perspective on the lived experiences of individuals with FASD.
