• Design, prototype, develop, and test innovative computational pipelines and visualizations for analyzing single cell data in Trailmaker.
• Continuously refine and enhance existing single cell pipelines and their features.
• Gather and integrate feedback from customers and team members.
• Troubleshoot customer analyses effectively.
• Stay informed on the rapidly changing landscape of single cell genomics and share insights on new methods, benchmarking studies, etc., with the team.
• Experiment, test, explore, fail, and learn continuously.
• Approach tasks with an ownership mindset and take pride in the quality of your work.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to fellow team members.
• A passion for developing tools that will be utilized by thousands of single cell researchers.
• Proven experience in designing, building, and enhancing data analysis software that addresses user needs.
• A degree in bioinformatics (or a related field) along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in bioinformatics engineering roles. For the Bioinformatics Engineer II level, 5+ years of experience is required.
• Proficient in Python and R programming languages.
• Practical experience with open-source single cell data analysis tools and packages, including Scanpy and Seurat.
• Competent in working with container-based cloud applications, preferably on AWS.
• Strong skills in data visualization.
• Extensive experience conducting code reviews and providing constructive feedback to peers.
• A collaborative mindset and eagerness to work within a close-knit team.
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git/GitHub is advantageous.
• Experience in building pipelines using Nextflow or similar frameworks is preferred.
• Background in integrating AI tools into development workflows is preferred.
• Knowledge of and/or interest in web development is a plus.
• Experience with Bash scripting is preferred.
