📋 Description

• In the role of Bioinformatics Engineer II within the Trailmaker development team, you will be instrumental in directing the technical vision of the platform while actively contributing across the entire stack.

• You will work in close collaboration with fellow engineers to design and implement new features that enhance user engagement.

• This position fosters a highly collaborative atmosphere with no strict boundaries between backend, frontend, or testing functions - every engineer is encouraged to engage with any part of the codebase and is accountable for the complete development cycle, from planning through implementation and testing to feature completion.


⛳️ Requirements

• A passion for developing tools that will be utilized by thousands of single-cell researchers.

• Proven experience in designing, developing, and enhancing data analysis software that addresses user needs.

• A degree in bioinformatics (or a related field) along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in bioinformatics engineering roles. For the Bioinformatics Engineer II position, an additional 5 years of experience is required.

• Proficiency in Python and R.

• Hands-on experience with open-source single-cell data analysis tools and packages, such as Scanpy and Seurat.

• Competence in working with container-based cloud applications, preferably on AWS.

• Strong skills in data visualization.

• Extensive experience conducting code reviews and offering constructive feedback to peers.

• A desire to work as part of a cohesive team.

• Familiarity with version control systems like Git/GitHub is preferred.

• Experience in building pipelines using Nextflow or similar frameworks is preferred.

• Familiarity with integrating AI tools into development workflows is preferred.

• An interest in and/or knowledge of web development is preferred.

• Experience with Bash is preferred.
