This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Accountable for the prompt review and submission of medical claims to various insurance companies on behalf of multiple providers and clinics.
• Well-versed in all components of the financial process, including scheduling, billing, and collections.
• Examine patient bills for precision and thoroughness within established timeframes.
• Proactively seek out missing information to guarantee claims are submitted correctly and on time.
• Familiar with insurance regulations and guidelines, including Medicare and Medicaid.
• Comply with billing protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Determine the appropriate party for billing, whether it be the insurance provider or the patient.
• Complete all required billing checklists before submission.
• Engage in follow-up activities to ensure timely gathering of documentation.
• Liaise with clinic staff and insurance companies.
• Ensure that all necessary documentation is included or coordinate with the relevant clinic to update records.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be a suitable fit for the role, as evaluated through the Talent Bullseye assessment administered by Hanger during the selection process.
• Strong customer service and communication abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the capacity to follow both written and verbal instructions.
• Resourceful and adaptable team player who excels in establishing trusting relationships.
• Familiarity with HIPAA and other medical insurance regulations and terminology related to private payers, state, and federal plans, including coding, billing, and reimbursement protocols.
• Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, HCPCS/CPT, and other coding systems.
• Proficient in computer skills, including Windows-based office applications (e.g., Word, Excel) and automated billing systems.
• Capable of using all necessary office equipment, such as fax machines, calculators, postage machines, copiers, etc.
• Awareness of applicable state, federal, and regional collection and reimbursement laws.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Detail-oriented while working in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm and maintain a positive attitude.
• Ability to work independently and think creatively.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Proficient in basic math and accounting skills.
