This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Support the collection, assessment, and management of data related to political violence and protests in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg.
• Engage in data gathering by analyzing news articles, reports from international organizations, NGOs, and security agencies.
• Categorize events to ensure comprehensive coverage of ongoing political violence, which includes protests and armed conflicts.
• Maintain the accuracy, consistency, and dependability of the data generated.
• Assist team members in performing detail-oriented tasks and in the production and management of quantitative data.
• Participate in an extensive ACLED training program that involves multiple exercises.
• A university degree in international relations, political science, conflict studies, peacebuilding, international development, or a related discipline.
• Proficiency in Excel (essential).
• Fluent in English (essential).
• Proficient in Dutch and French (essential).
• Prior experience with desk-based research.
• Ability to meet deadlines while working with minimal supervision.
• High attention to detail and capability to accept and integrate feedback.
• Background or professional experience in conflict research or peacebuilding in Western Europe, or specific country studies, is a significant advantage.
• Knowledge of conflicts and key actors in the relevant countries.
• Access to a computer, reliable internet, email, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
