📋 Description

• Take ownership of the ongoing development, operation, and user experience of EDUCAUSE’s benchmarking products, ensuring that benchmarking provides actionable insights, reliable peer comparisons, and compelling narratives for institutions.

• This position is tasked with transitioning EDUCAUSE benchmarking from mere data delivery to interpretation, strategic planning, and narrative value, producing clear, actionable benchmarking products that aid institutional planning and decision-making.

• Ensure user satisfaction and program effectiveness by creating benchmarking tools that campus technology leaders utilize for planning, managing, and delivering IT services.

• Collaborate with community members and stakeholders to design and implement these products, prioritize tasks across various teams, guide stakeholders on use cases and product development, and track metrics and KPIs to ensure quality and engagement.

• Oversee and implement the roadmap for both current and future EDUCAUSE benchmarking offerings in collaboration with the director and technical teams, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and the larger decision-support framework.

• Work together with the Director of Benchmarking and Portfolio Operations to ensure that benchmarking products are coherent, purposeful, and integrated with EDUCAUSE’s other products and services.

• Lead cross-functional collaborations with internal staff, campus technology leaders, and community members to ascertain user needs, define benchmarking requirements, and deliver comprehensive solutions that reflect institutional priorities and real-world applications.

• In partnership with the EDUCAUSE research team, outline and coordinate the complete benchmarking lifecycle, encompassing survey/instrument design, peer group definition, and data collection, including relevant benchmarking inputs such as institutional characteristics, peer segmentation, and survey responses.

• Manage the design process for benchmarking products, including survey instruments, data outputs, visualizations, guidance, and usability validation.

• Establish product objectives, outcomes, and KPIs to assess the quality, usability, and impact of benchmarking products.

• Stay informed about competing and complementary products and conduct competitive market analyses to identify new risks and opportunities.


⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., business, information systems, evaluation, data, or higher education) is required.

• A minimum of eight years of professional experience as a product manager, product owner, or in a similar role supporting data, benchmarking, or analytical products, or any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the capability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position is required.

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience in higher education technology.

• Preferred: Experience collaborating with campus technology leaders and/or higher education stakeholders.

• Preferred: Experience developing or overseeing the creation of benchmarking outputs and data visualizations (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools) based on user needs.

• Strongly preferred: Experience with benchmarking, survey research, peer group analysis, or data-driven decision-support products, along with familiarity with survey design and administration tools (e.g., Alchemer) and benchmarking data collection methodologies.

• Proven ability to establish, prioritize, and communicate business and product requirements.

• Familiarity with product management practices, agile delivery, and continuous improvement methodologies is essential.
