This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Spearhead the technical execution and advancement of engineering platforms (IDP) utilizing Backstage, while defining the architectural vision, roadmap, and deployment strategies.
• Formulate and oversee the migration strategy from outdated platforms to the new IDP, ensuring a secure and gradual transition that aligns with business goals.
• Make and justify essential architectural choices (template patterns, environment, plugin/extension strategy, catalog) by balancing cost, performance, risk, and time-to-value considerations.
• Establish implementation patterns and guardrails for CI/CD, IaC, observability, security, and platform operations.
• Coordinate technical efforts across DevOps, developers, and architects, eliminating obstacles and ensuring a consistent delivery rhythm.
• Serve as a senior technical liaison with engineering, Cloud, security, architecture, and C-level stakeholders, translating technical trade-offs into business impacts.
• Define and refine the strategy for golden paths, Software Templates, TechDocs, and Backstage Scaffolder, ensuring scalability, reuse, and an enhanced developer experience (DevEx).
• Establish the observability strategy, SLOs, DORA metrics, and platform metrics (adoption, internal NPS, lead time, change failure rate) to showcase value and inform prioritization.
• Champion the adoption of DevOps, GitOps, and Platform Engineering as the standard operational framework, aiding clients in their technical maturity journey.
• Mentor and cultivate the engineering team, elevating the overall technical proficiency through code reviews, design discussions, pair programming, and learning initiatives.
• Conduct technical discovery sessions and create ADRs, ensuring decision traceability and stakeholder alignment.
• Proactively address technical, compliance, and operational-continuity risks during transition and modernization efforts.
• Represent the technical practice in both internal discussions and with clients, contributing to the evolution of the offering, delivery standards, and team empowerment.
• Proven experience in technically leading Platform Engineering or IDP initiatives, preferably with Backstage (including Scaffolder, Software Catalog, TechDocs, custom plugins, and integrations).
• Advanced skills in programming languages (TypeScript/Node.js are strongly preferred due to the Backstage ecosystem; Python, Go, Java, or C# are also valued for templates).
• Comprehensive understanding of software architecture and distributed systems, with a track record of designing resilient solutions for high-criticality environments.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), including landing zone models, security, networking, and cost management.
• Expertise in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS/AKS), including migration scenarios from legacy infrastructures.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), focusing on governance, reusable modules, scalability, and patterns applicable to multiple teams.
• Experience with CI/CD, GitOps, and comprehensive automation of the delivery lifecycle.
• Proficient in observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, ELK, or similar solutions).
• Solid understanding of platform security (IAM, secrets management).
• We prioritize continuous growth for Zuppers, motivating each individual to pursue pathways that enhance their professional development.
