This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create backend services that ingest, validate, reconcile, and deliver data from external partners.
• Develop systems related to member identity, eligibility, billing, and other essential business domains.
• Design APIs, asynchronous workflows, and data pipelines utilized across Vida.
• Enhance system resilience against incomplete, duplicated, delayed, and inconsistent real-world data.
• Establish secure methods for retrying, replaying, and recovering data when issues arise.
• Improve the reliability, observability, testing, and performance of production systems.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Operations to establish requirements and provide solutions.
• Manage features from design through to production, progressing towards independently overseeing services and technical decisions.
• Additional tasks as required.
• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
• Over 2 years of professional experience in backend software development.
• Strong programming foundations, primarily in Python.
• Experience working with relational databases and proficiency in SQL.
• Background in developing systems that process, transform, or manage substantial amounts of data.
• Solid grasp of testing, debugging, APIs, and common failure modes in distributed systems.
• Experience in deploying or managing software within a cloud environment.
• Keen instincts regarding correctness, including validation, idempotency, retries, and edge cases.
• Ability to comprehend and enhance an unfamiliar codebase without complicating it further.
• Excellent written communication skills with the capability to articulate technical decisions and trade-offs.
• Must have authorization to work in the U.S.; Vida is unable to sponsor work visas.
• Must either reside in or be capable of working from a state where Vida is registered.
• Previous experience in healthcare is not mandatory.
• Preferred experience includes data-intensive backend systems, ETL/ELT pipelines, event-driven architectures, PostgreSQL, analytical warehouses, data modeling, infrastructure as code, containers, workflow orchestration, healthcare data, and regulated or security-sensitive production environments.
