Backend Engineer – Java

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Create and develop scalable backend services utilizing Java and Spring Boot.

• Construct high-performance REST APIs and microservices.

• Establish backend functionalities for subscriptions, payments, and user entitlements.

• Implement workflows for Fire TV IAP purchases and subscriptions.

• Integrate with app stores, payment service providers, and external platform APIs.

• Develop workflows that encompass purchases, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and changes in subscription status.

• Design robust and idempotent transaction-processing systems.

• Manage retries, failures, reconciliation, and eventual consistency across distributed services.

• Create event-driven and asynchronous workflows using messaging systems.

• Design systems capable of handling high throughput and sudden traffic surges.

• Optimize service latency, throughput, scalability, and infrastructure utilization.

• Enhance observability through logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.

• Diagnose complex production issues across distributed services.

• Engage in architecture reviews, code reviews, and discussions on technical design.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven programming experience in Java.

• Extensive experience with Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem.

• Significant experience in designing RESTful APIs and microservices.

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and asynchronous processing.

• Experience with SQL databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL.

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases is preferred.

• Knowledge of caching technologies such as Redis.

• Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming and messaging platforms.

• Understanding of transaction management, idempotency, and data consistency principles.

• Experience with AWS or comparable cloud platforms.

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong skills in production debugging and performance optimization.

• 4 to 7 years of experience in backend engineering.

• Proficient in hands-on Java and microservices development.

• Ability to independently design and deliver backend services.

• Experience in working on scalable and distributed production systems.

• This is a 6-month contractual role.
