Backend Engineer

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and take ownership of backend services and APIs that support Flex’s applications.

• Structure the domain - including eligibility rules, transactions, merchants, consumer accounts, etc. - into data structures and APIs for other teams to utilize.

• Collaborate with frontend, design, and business stakeholders to convert merchant and consumer requirements into robust APIs and workflows.

• Manage and enhance our backend service architecture, data models, and integrations.

• Investigate, diagnose, and rectify production issues stemming from business logic, data accuracy, and transactional edge cases.

• Work together on cross-functional initiatives that integrate the complete Flex experience, from consumer checkout to merchant analytics.

• Develop and maintain documentation for APIs, services, and on-call runbooks.

• Foster a culture of learning, problem-solving, and operational excellence.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in creating production backend services and APIs using a typed programming language (such as Rust, TypeScript/Node, Go, Python, etc.).

• Solid understanding of relational databases and experience in designing APIs that other teams or external partners rely on.

• You possess resourcefulness, curiosity, and the ability to learn new tools swiftly.

• You excel in fast-paced, dynamic settings and enjoy taking on various roles.

• You are collaborative and take pleasure in working with different teams to address challenges.

• You have a strong execution focus and consistently prioritize the end user.

• You are adept at utilizing AI tools to expedite delivery.
