Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop and deliver complete features for high-load backend services.

• Create scalable APIs and services.

• Incorporate AI-driven features into product workflows.

• Engage with LLM-based systems and AI-powered services.

• Enhance performance, reliability, and system architecture.

• Collaborate with product, design, and AI teams from both Engenious and client sides.

• Influence technical decisions and engineering standards.

• Guide and mentor engineers while fostering team growth.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in backend development.

• Proficient in Java and Spring Boot is essential.

• Understanding of system scaling, REST APIs, GraphQL, microservices, and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ).

• Familiarity with Python.

• Solid foundation in algorithms and system design.

• Experience in building or integrating AI-driven features (LLMs, APIs, or similar).

• Proven track record of building and scaling production systems.

• Skilled in debugging complex systems.

• Strong product mindset with a focus on user experience.

• Practical experience in designing and operating WebSocket-based real-time systems at scale.

• History of cross-team collaboration on high-load production systems, including services catering to over 100,000 users or operating at significant request-per-second rates.

• Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States at the time of hire; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

• Nice to Have: Experience with LLMs or AI frameworks (OpenAI, Antropic), LangChain, Langraph, etc.

• Background in high-scale applications.

• Experience in mentoring or leading engineers.
