Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Assume comprehensive ownership and manage the software that you design, develop, test, and deploy into production.

• Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and product owners to create exceptional products and experiences for our clients and partners.

• Design resilient and scalable components utilizing our architectural styles and patterns.

• Implement new features using our JVM stack.

• Create unit/component/integration tests to ensure the reliability of the features you develop.

• Conduct daily reviews of pull requests, sharing your expertise with the team.

• Receive guidance from all team members, ranging from seasoned professionals to newcomers just starting their careers.

• Deploy new features to production daily through our CI/CD pipeline.

• Participate in on-call duties occasionally, as we rotate to share our knowledge and experience.

• Contribute to our Architecture Decision Records, where you can suggest new techniques, patterns, and tools for our evolving platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in backend development, particularly with JVM-based technologies such as Java, Kotlin, or Scala.

• A proven history of delivering scalable, high-performance backend systems in a production setting.

• Practical experience with backend languages (e.g., Java 11, Kotlin, Scala) and backend frameworks like Spring Boot.

• Proficiency in building and managing databases, including SQL (required), PostgreSQL, and Redis.

• Strong background in automated testing.

• Solid ability to design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure APIs.

• Familiarity with Kafka for managing event-driven systems.

• Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies.

• Nice to have: Skills in reactive programming.

• Nice to have: Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
