
Backend Developer, Kotlin β Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
β’ Lead technically intricate initiatives, managing the entire software development lifecycle from architectural design to deployment and production operations.
β’ Act as a technical resource for the team and other squads, ensuring exceptional standards of quality, performance, security, and resilience in services such as BFFs, communication hubs, and strategic APIs.
β’ Define and advance backend architectures, evaluating technical trade-offs, operational risks, and long-term implications on AI Engineering platforms.
β’ Establish and propagate engineering best practices, including TDD/BDD, clean code principles, DDD, structured code reviews, and high coverage of automated testing.
β’ Engage actively in the operation and maintenance of production systems, emphasizing observability, root cause analysis, incident prevention, and continuous improvement.
β’ Influence technical decisions across product, data, platform, and architecture, translating business requirements into scalable and sustainable technical solutions.
β’ Foster the technical development of engineers within the team, promoting skills enhancement and maturity in software engineering.
β’ Extensive, proven experience in backend development using Kotlin or Java, with frameworks such as Spring Boot in high-scale environments.
β’ Strong proficiency in microservices architecture and BFFs, including API versioning, integration patterns, resilience, scalability, and asynchronous communication.
β’ Solid background in test automation across multiple levels (unit, integration, contract) to ensure the reliability and safety of releases.
β’ In-depth knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra, with a focus on consistency, performance, and availability.
β’ Significant experience with messaging and streaming systems like Kafka, SQS, and SNS in high-throughput environments.
β’ Expertise in observability practices, including metrics, structured logging, distributed tracing, and the establishment of SLIs/SLOs.
β’ Practical experience in cloud environments (preferably AWS), utilizing infrastructure as code (Terraform or CloudFormation) and established CI/CD pipelines.
β’ Advanced understanding of application security, including authentication and authorization (JWT, OAuth2), encryption, and secure-by-design methodologies.
β’ Consistent experience in agile environments, with a DevOps mindset, technical ownership, and a focus on operational efficiency.
β’ Prior experience with complex platforms, system integrations, or mission-critical digital products.
β’ Up to 5 days of leave for mental health care, with the option to take time off on specific days.
