Backend, Data Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Backend Development: Create, develop, and sustain scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs utilizing Python.

• Data Pipeline Engineering: Design and enhance dependable ETL/ELT pipelines for processing substantial data volumes with PySpark.

• System Architecture: Containerize applications and data tasks for smooth deployment across various environments.

• Data Modeling & Storage: Develop effective relational database schemas and refine intricate SQL queries for both transactional and analytical workloads.

• Collaboration: Partner closely with product, analytics, and data science teams to grasp data needs and deliver production-ready software solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Python: Robust expertise in crafting clean, testable, and efficient production code (e.g., utilizing frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, or standard library concurrency).

• SQL: In-depth understanding of SQL (joins, window functions, query optimization) and experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).

• PySpark & Big Data: Practical experience with PySpark for distributed data processing and large-scale data manipulation.

• Docker: Proficiency in containerizing applications and overseeing local or production deployments using Docker/Docker Compose.

• Engineering Mindset: Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, including git version control, CI/CD, code reviews, and the development of unit/integration tests.

• Desirable (Nice-to-Have):

• Experience with Apache Iceberg for managing large-scale analytic datasets and table formats.

• Familiarity with cloud storage solutions and optimization techniques, specifically AWS S3 / S3 Tables.

• Knowledge of data ingestion and orchestration tools (e.g., AWS Glue, AWS Step Functions).
