Back-End Engineer, AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Frontend Engineers, Designers, and QA specialists to comprehend requirements, define feature scope, and create seamless user experiences.

• Leverage AI coding tools such as Claude to enhance feature development—generating code, managing boilerplate, and constructing scaffolding. You will critically assess all AI-generated code prior to release.

• Design and deploy AI products, workflows, and agents.

• Offer your technical expertise throughout all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle, from discovery to deployment, including decisions on architecture, design input, and deployment strategy.

• Work collaboratively to build robust new features, APIs, databases, and infrastructure. Assist in identifying and resolving bugs rapidly while upholding high-quality standards.

• Take full ownership of shipping features end-to-end: design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.

• Ensure the delivery of top-quality products and services through meticulous engineering, thorough testing, and attentive, customer-centric development.

• Maintain constant communication with cross-functional teams. Articulate technical constraints to non-technical stakeholders, translate requirements into actionable solutions, and ensure alignment among all parties.

• Remove obstacles for teams by providing clear answers, rapidly debugging issues, and suggesting solutions for ambiguous challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Backend/Software Engineer. You have successfully delivered real AI products, resolved production issues, and considered scalability.

• Proficiency in developing with NodeJS or Python. You are comfortable writing clean, maintainable code and have a strong grasp of patterns, conventions, and best practices. Syntax is second nature to you.

• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL fundamentals, with particular expertise in PostgreSQL and ORM libraries (such as Sequelize, TypeORM, or similar). You can craft queries, enhance performance, and intentionally design schemas.

• Proven experience in shipping actual products using Claude. You have utilized AI to expedite development and launched features that are operational. You can effectively prompt, critically evaluate AI-generated code, and discern when to leverage AI versus coding manually.

• Exceptional communication abilities—both written and verbal. You clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and produce clear documentation, code comments, and Slack updates. You ask insightful questions and share context proactively. Strong remote collaboration skills are essential, as you excel in asynchronous communication and keep everyone informed about status, blockers, and decisions. You have successfully collaborated in distributed teams.

• Compliance with business processes and systems to fulfill the company's quality standards. You adhere to Deel's protocols for code review, testing, deployment, and operational accountability.
