This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
• Design and establish the foundational elements of the Microsoft Fabric platform, including capacities, workspaces, OneLake, environment structures, and overall platform configuration.
• Create and oversee DEV, TEST, and PROD environments along with their deployment strategies.
• Execute Infrastructure as Code utilizing Terraform and various automation technologies.
• Develop and sustain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub.
• Implement security measures, identity management, and access controls via Microsoft Entra ID and RBAC.
• Integrate Microsoft Fabric with Azure services and other extensive cloud platforms.
• Create reusable automation and deployment patterns to ensure consistency and scalability.
• Assist with monitoring, logging, operational readiness, and governance of the platform.
• Work collaboratively with Data Engineering teams to facilitate workloads and eliminate platform obstacles.
• Generate technical documentation, standards, and operational runbooks.
• Offer technical leadership and advice on Fabric platform architecture and engineering best practices.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Azure Cloud Engineering.
• A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric and its essential platform components.
• Proven experience in implementing Fabric capacities, workspaces, and OneLake.
• Strong background in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps and/or GitHub CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience in implementing Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, and cloud security measures.
• Competence in designing and managing Fabric environments across DEV, TEST, and PROD stages.
• In-depth understanding of cloud networking, security, governance, and operational best practices.
• Experience in automating cloud platforms using PowerShell and/or Python.
• Exposure to working within enterprise cloud environments.
• A solid understanding of data platform concepts and how data workloads utilize cloud infrastructure.
• Azure certifications are a plus.
• Certifications in Terraform, DevOps, or cloud platforms are advantageous.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric REST APIs, platform automation, Azure integration, data ingestion workloads, notebook-based solutions, regulated cloud environments, FinOps, and cloud cost optimization is beneficial.
