Azure Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Egypt.

📋 Description

• Develop, maintain, and enhance data pipelines on Azure using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, or similar Azure data technologies.

• Connect SAP and other enterprise data sources to Azure employing Velocity, Theobald, or comparable integration technologies.

• Create and refine scalable solutions for data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration.

• Enforce data governance, lineage, cataloging, and metadata management requirements utilizing Microsoft Purview.

• Assist with data quality management processes in partnership with Pulse.

• Offer L1.5–L3 support for incidents related to the data platform, pipeline failures, and production challenges.

• Oversee data loads, platform performance, and overall operational health, addressing issues proactively.

• Work collaboratively with business, analytics, and data engineering teams to deliver dependable data solutions.

• Document data architecture, integration patterns, data flows, and operational procedures.

• Implement enhancements and operational improvements throughout the Intelligent Data Platform.

• Utilize CI/CD practices and data engineering best practices to boost reliability and maintainability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience delivering Azure data engineering solutions in a mid-level individual contributor role.

• Proficient with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, or equivalent Azure data engineering technologies.

• Advanced SQL development expertise, along with experience in Python and/or Apache Spark for data engineering and transformation.

• Experience in integrating SAP data sources with cloud platforms.

• Hands-on experience troubleshooting live data pipelines and supporting Azure data platform operations across L1.5–L3 support levels, including investigating pipeline failures, resolving data loading and transformation issues, and monitoring platform performance and operational health.

• Strong comprehension of data governance, lineage, metadata management, and data quality principles.

• Familiarity with CI/CD principles to ensure reliable data engineering delivery.

• Experience collaborating with data engineering and other technical teams on data pipelines, integrations, troubleshooting, and production support.

• Experience working with business and analytics teams to comprehend data requirements and guarantee data availability and quality.

• Proficiency in English.

• Over 3 years of experience in Azure data engineering (preferred).

• Experience with incident tracking and root-cause analysis (preferred).

• Hands-on experience configuring or implementing Microsoft Purview or similar enterprise data cataloging solutions (preferred).

• Experience in establishing cloud-based governance frameworks (preferred).

• Hands-on experience with deployment pipelines for Azure data workloads, version control, automated testing, as well as release and change management (preferred).

• Experience working in Agile or Scrum teams and adhering to development, testing, deployment, and production support processes (preferred).

• Experience collaborating with SAP teams, enterprise system owners, and stakeholders responsible for source systems and data governance (preferred).
