Azure Cloud Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Develop, own, implement, and operate Allstate’s cloud application development and hosting platforms.

• Create, manage, and deploy self-service tools that empower developers to build, deploy, and operate cloud-native applications.

• Support engineering teams by facilitating paired programming and collaboration.

• Lead the engineering efforts in creating new platforms, products, and cloud services.

• Provide mentorship to the team and ensure that service level agreements (SLAs) are met for operational tasks and customer inquiries.

• Design, construct, manage, and operate platform infrastructure and application environments using automation and infrastructure as code.

• Champion test-driven development and continuous delivery practices for infrastructure.

• Oversee and automate the lifecycle of platform components and continuous delivery tools.

• Construct and manage infrastructure-as-a-service layers that support platform services.

• Develop monitoring solutions utilizing tools such as Datadog, New Relic, Azure Monitor, and others.

• Create logging-as-a-service solutions based on open-source technologies.

• Integrate components and develop services that prioritize open source and seamless developer interaction.

• Analyze performance, demand, and capacity trends to establish scalability plans.

• Detect and resolve availability and performance issues across hardware, operating environments, networks, and application layers.

• Recommend and uphold technology-related policies and procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience is preferred.

• A combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education requirements.

• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID and its relationship with Azure and M365.

• Profound understanding of Azure Management Groups and Policies.

• In-depth knowledge of Azure Regions, Availability Zones, VNets, Private Endpoints, and ExpressRoute.

• At least 5 years of experience working with Azure Cloud Services.

• Familiarity with GCP Compute, IAM, Networking, and image management.

• Experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Infrastructure Operations, and Application Knowledge.

• Proficient in testing and programming.

• Capability to mentor team members in extreme programming, product mindset, cloud/as-a-service strategies, and infrastructure as code.

• Strong background in Software Development/Projects and building Cloud (Azure) Solutions.

• Willingness and capability to effect necessary changes in infrastructure and processes.

• Ability and eagerness to work in an Extreme Programming environment and paired programming/engineering model.

• Skill in facilitating diverse teams, multitasking, and working under pressure to meet strict schedule targets.

• Proficient at working effectively across organizational and geographical boundaries.

• Capability to identify innovative solutions for technical support issues.

• Strong communication skills to convey ideas effectively across diverse groups.

• Ability to present concepts and solutions clearly to various levels of stakeholders.

• Required background investigation.

• Must have a dedicated, private workspace free from distractions when working remotely.

• Reliable internet connection is required, with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload.
