AWS Application Architect – Lead

📋 Description

• The Application Architect will collaborate closely with clients, leadership, solutions architects, and technical/functional leads across Guidehouse teams and market segments to support client projects and drive growth initiatives and capability enhancements.

• Act as a pivotal member of the modernization team, guiding and mentoring full-stack development teams while providing technical direction and architectural oversight for innovative solution prototypes utilizing cloud architectures and contemporary software technologies.

• Spearhead solutions architecture and engage in hands-on engineering/full-stack development of scalable and secure distributed systems employing modern software technologies, programming, AWS Native and microservices architecture, containerization, and API-First design patterns.

• Collaborate effectively with user experience designers, platform engineers, product owners, solution architects, business analysts, and full-stack development teams to design, build, test, and deploy high-value, operationally resilient software products on the AWS cloud platform that meet both functional and non-functional requirements.

• Establish application architecture standards, design patterns, and development best practices across development teams, while creating architectural roadmaps for intricate modernization projects and ensuring compliance with AWS Well-Architected Framework principles.

• Direct technical decision-making processes, oversee the execution of complex distributed systems, and provide escalation support for challenging technical issues while managing project timelines, resource distribution, and technical deliverables for multiple concurrent initiatives.

• Lead proof-of-concept development and technical demonstrations to validate solution strategies, spearhead solution architecture efforts for RFPs, technical proposals, and thought leadership initiatives.


⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card holder.

• A Bachelor's degree or an additional four (4) years of relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.

• A minimum of six (6) to ten (10) years of relevant experience in full-stack application development, with at least four (4) years in leadership or architectural roles.

• At least five (5) years of experience in AWS cloud application development aimed at building or modernizing applications.

• Experience and proficiency in leading teams and implementing frontend and backend services for cloud-native software products and solutions, including Python, JavaScript, Django, and Vue.js.

• Essential skills include expert proficiency in Python and JavaScript, along with demonstrated team leadership experience managing a team of five or more developers.

• Proven capability to work independently and lead, mentor, collaborate, assist, and support other team members in solving complex technical challenges while managing multiple concurrent projects.

• Established ability to architect software products and solution prototypes, set technical standards, and utilize prototypes to validate technical solution strategies while articulating the advantages and disadvantages of intricate design alternatives to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience with microservices architecture, API design patterns, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), serverless computing, and modern CI/CD practices for enterprise-scale applications.

• Familiarity with the AWS Serverless Application Model (SAM) and proven design patterns, such as Model-View-Controller, Circuit Breaker, and Event-Driven patterns, is necessary, as is the capability to design and develop cloud-based software products that align with the AWS Well-Architected Framework design principles.

• A comprehensive understanding of Agile and Scaled Agile practices and principles, with extensive experience.
