This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead intricate audits for private equity funds, including multi-tier structures, SPVs, co-investment vehicles, and management companies.

• Offer technical guidance in investment company accounting, fair value measurements, and fund economics.

• Supervise audit engagements from initial planning to final completion, ensuring high-quality deliverables and compliance with regulations.

• Counsel clients on valuation methodologies, fund structures, and the accounting consequences of investment transactions.

• Maintain extensive knowledge of GAAP, investment company accounting, and reporting for alternative asset funds.

• Provide expertise on:

• - Fair value measurements (ASC 820)

• - Capital account mechanics, including waterfall allocations and carried interest

• - Management fee and expense structures

• Support the cultivation of internal technical expertise and mentor team members on complex valuation and audit matters.

• Lead strategic initiatives aimed at expanding the private equity audit practice.

• Transition and oversee an existing portfolio of clients while building new relationships.

• Establish connections with fund managers, institutional investors, fund administrators, legal advisors, and valuation professionals.

• Identify and pursue opportunities to cross-sell services across tax and advisory practices.

• Act as a trusted advisor to General Partners, CFOs, and fund leadership teams.

• Provide forward-looking insights into accounting developments, fund operations, and industry trends.

• Enhance the firm’s reputation as a trusted partner throughout the entire fund lifecycle.

• Experience in recruiting, developing, and mentoring a dedicated private equity fund audit team.

• Foster a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture centered on excellence and innovation.

• Support career development pathways for audit professionals interested in alternative investments.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• 10–20+ years of experience in public accounting with an emphasis on private equity or alternative investment funds.

• CPA License is mandatory.

• Substantial experience leading complex private equity fund audits.

• Proven experience managing senior client relationships and engagement teams.

• Deep technical knowledge in private equity fund audits and alternative investment structures.

• Strong comprehension of fair value frameworks, valuation methodologies, and investment accounting.

• Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a capacity to build and scale a practice area.

• Excellent client relationship management and advisory skills.

• Strong business development and networking skills.

• Ability to perform effectively in a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial firm setting.

• Strong communication skills, capable of translating complex accounting concepts into comprehensible business insights.

• Collaborative mindset with the ability to engage across service lines.

• Experience in building or expanding a private equity or alternative investments practice.

• Experience managing or transitioning a portable book of business.

• Prior leadership experience at the Partner or Managing Director level.
