Audit Manager – US Affordable Housing, Housing & Urban Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Provide exceptional audit services to international clients.

• Ensure timely, high-quality client service, which includes planning, budgeting, and coordinating all client deliverables.

• Recognize the skill sets and capabilities of team members; oversee and evaluate work to guarantee quality and skill enhancement.

• Lead larger, more intricate engagement teams, maintaining client satisfaction and team morale.

• Engage in proactive and confident communication with all levels within the firm and with clients.

• Oversee the engagement team, tasks, and budget management.

• Administer audits from planning to finalization, including reviewing and signing off on essential audit sections.

• Execute audits in accordance with International Standards of Auditing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Recent, hands-on external audit experience with U.S. affordable housing entities, properties, or programs.

• Candidates must possess external audit experience with at least one U.S. affordable housing program, funding structure, or housing entity, such as LIHTC, HUD-assisted housing/Section 8, Public Housing/PHAs, HOME, HTF, tax-exempt bond-financed affordable housing, USDA Rural Development housing, or other U.S. affordable housing programs or structures.

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in Public Accounting audit.

• Completion of training or articles, with no more than 2 years out of audit.

• Primarily experience in Public Accounting firms.

• At least 2 years of experience in leading audit teams and managing engagements.

• Proficient in managing audits from planning through to completion.

• Strong knowledge of applicable U.S. accounting, auditing, and compliance regulations.

• Experience in supervising engagement teams, managing budgets, reviewing audit work, and adhering to deadlines.

• Familiarity with CaseWare or CCH.

• Prior external audit experience with U.S.-based clients.

• Legal authorization to work in South Africa or Zimbabwe.

• Minimum fiber internet connection with a proven bandwidth of 50Mbps upload and 50Mbps download, latency no greater than 30ms, and connectivity that remains stable during power outages; satellite connections like Starlink or AWS Leo are not acceptable.
