Audio Engineer – Speech, TTS Specialist, French

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Edit and process French voice recordings for text-to-speech (TTS) and speech AI systems.

• Conduct audio cleanup tasks, including trimming silences, reducing/removing breaths, de-clicking, de-essing, and minimizing noise.

• Perform quality assurance checks to identify clipping, distortion, background noise, artifacts, loudness consistency, and level balancing.

• Ensure that audio recordings meet the technical specifications required for machine-learning training pipelines.

• Assess the accuracy, naturalness, and fluency of French pronunciation.

• Process large volumes of recordings while ensuring consistency and maintaining output rates.

• Collaborate on French speech datasets, voice talent recordings, and workflows for model training.

• Possibly engage with TTS vendors or platforms, speech ML, voice AI, and workflows for dataset creation or annotation.

• Oversee or edit recordings from French voice talent when applicable.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native or near-native fluency in French.

• Experience in editing speech or voice recordings, rather than solely focusing on music production.

• Strong understanding of audio quality standards related to speech and common issues in recorded dialogue.

• Proficient in using iZotope RX, Pro Tools, or comparable audio restoration software.

• Ability to identify and rectify audio artifacts, inconsistencies, and technical issues.

• Experience handling high-volume audio datasets or working with structured workflows.

• Strong intuitive listening skills for the nuances of French speech.

• Familiarity with audio quality assurance pipelines, labeling, or evaluation processes.

• Understanding of the distinctions between human French speech and synthetic voice requirements.

• H1-B or STEM OPT candidates are not eligible.

• Must operate as an independent contractor.
