Associate Merchant – Prepared Foods

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Collaborates on the formulation of sales and margin plans as well as sales forecasts for designated categories.

• Oversees and manages open-to-buy positioning while purchasing merchandise for assigned categories.

• Engages directly with vendors to negotiate merchandise pricing, quantities, delivery schedules, and terms.

• Recognizes and applies effective merchandise packaging and presentation strategies that boost productivity and execution.

• Objectively evaluates the merchandise mix in accordance with consumer trends and business requirements to create planograms and offer assortment recommendations.

• Analyzes advertising and promotion metrics to assess performance, refine merchandise strategies, and propose necessary adjustments.

• Accountable for executing the category pricing strategy and implementing exit strategies for underperforming items.

• Evaluates pricing based on insights into the competitive environment, sales and margin goals, as well as price indexing and targets.

• Investigates the competitive landscape and consumer trends to ensure strategic alignment.

• Identifies merchandising risks and opportunities, providing actionable recommendations.

• Offers effective and supportive leadership and guidance to Merchant Assistants.

• Carries out additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a business or operations-related discipline.

• 2-5 years of experience in professional merchandising or retail operations.

• Proficient in vendor negotiation strategies.

• Strong analytical capabilities and critical thinking skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently in a fast-paced setting.
