This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist ACLED in its media relations and digital communication efforts focusing on LATAM and Asia analysis, highlighting the impact of its data analysis on specialized Insurance and Risk outlets.
• Develop media knowledge and establish contacts within the assigned region and specialized sectors.
• Compose press releases, media advisories, quotes, and background materials under the guidance of the Media Relations Manager.
• Aid in responding to media inquiries and coordinating interviews or information requests.
• Maintain media lists, journalist databases, and monitoring systems.
• Monitor media coverage and generate initial data for analysis and KPI reporting.
• Assist with crafting talking points, briefings, messaging documents, media training, and interview practice.
• Ensure messaging consistency with social media colleagues across various platforms.
• Help design and produce posts, graphics, short-form videos, and multimedia assets.
• Ensure digital content maintains consistent branding, accuracy, and tone.
• Assist in planning, recording, and editing podcasts and webinars.
• Support guest coordination, scheduling, research, and content outlines or scripts.
• Provide basic assistance for video production, short news clips, and multimedia materials.
• Create timely content that aligns with the news cycle and ACLED’s major data releases.
• Assist in the logistics of media training and the preparation of training materials.
• Participate in occasional out-of-hours work as part of a duty rota.
• Travel occasionally for conferences, ACLED meetings, or recording/filming projects when necessary.
• Report to the Media Relations Manager and collaborate with external stakeholders and global colleagues.
• Proficient in both written and spoken English and Spanish.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Two to four years of experience in media relations or journalism.
• Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to distill complex information into clear and engaging content.
• Familiarity with the media landscape and fundamental principles of digital communications.
• Experience in creating digital content such as social media posts, graphics, or short-form videos.
• Knowledge of audio or video editing tools like Audacity, Adobe Premiere, Descript, or similar software.
• Capability to manage multiple deadlines, respond promptly to shifting priorities, and demonstrate sound judgment.
• Excellent written English and a keen eye for detail.
• Experience utilizing media monitoring tools, databases, or digital analytics platforms.
• Strong interpersonal skills and comfort collaborating with global colleagues and external stakeholders.
• In-depth understanding of how Tier 1 media outlets commission content.
• Familiarity with the Latin American media landscape or Asia-Pacific media landscape.
• Awareness of sector outlets focused on Insurance and Risk.
• Additional language skills.
• Experience with Asana or similar project management platforms.
• Experience in a fast-paced work environment.
• Background in supporting communications within academic, data-driven, or policy-focused settings.
• Experience with campaigns, event support, or cross-team content coordination.
• Basic understanding of SEO and best practices in digital analytics.
